bumblebee habitat in maçka parkı

These nests, made from recycled timber for bumblebees, are located in Maçka Sanat Parkı. It is a spatial proposal that will grant bumblebees the right to live in an area that can be considered a corridor within the city.

According to Coetzee's "The Lives of Animals", the basis of an ethical relationship with animals is not knowledge, but empathy and imagination. Based on this, the nests try to break the human-centered urban perception and make the silent existence of bumblebees visible.

Additionally, this proposal questions the speciesist thinking criticized in Peter Singer's work, Animal Liberation, at the spatial level. Bumblebees are generally considered harmful and undesirable in urban life. This perspective leads to the violation of their basic rights to shelter.
