An Urban Layover for Chickadee
Architecture is a shared language for all city dwellers, not just humans. This intervention reclaims the hollows of the Mecidiyeköy viaduct, turning industrial voids into sanctuaries for the chickadee—the sky’s most social residents.
Mecidiyeköy is a hub of mechanical noise. By introducing vocal chickadee colonies, the project layers natural sounds over the city’s industrial hum, creating a deliberate contrast within this intense urban landscape.
Seamlessly blending with the greenery around Mecidiyeköy Sanat, these shelters consist of modular units. Each has been positioned through wind and vibration analysis to support the birds' instinct for colony life.
