birds vs. cats

 

This ethno-biology study examines the relationships animals establish with the street, other living beings, and humans, specifically through their interactions with birds, with particular attention to the feeding practices of birds and cats.

'Ms. Fatoş', who feeds the cats, says that she used to get angry at people after finding the food scattered around — but later realized it was actually the crows doing it.

She also says that the food people leave carelessly can hurt the cats — sometimes the pieces get stuck in their throats — and she has had to take several cats to the vet because of this.

Some people have complained about her, saying that she leaves food and makes a mess around the area. 

 

 

'A lady who feeds the street cats' says she once saved a kitten from the mouth of a seagull.

Every evening, she goes out on her own to feed the cats. However, she says that the birds scatter the food everywhere, causing waste, bad smell, and mess. She also mentions that the cats attack small birds, and the birds attack the cats in return.

 

 

 

 

 

 

'The school's English teacher', cleans the cat shelter in the schoolyard almost everyday of the week and replaces the cat food regularly.

She complains about people interfering with the cleaning and has put up a note on the shelter saying she doesn’t want anyone to touch or interfere with it.

She says that birds don’t enter the shelter, which might be because it’s enclosed.

The school staff mention that the area around the shelter doesn’t actually get very dirty.
