IN- BETWEEN SPECIES
Multi-Functional Animal Welfare & Social Complex
Ilke Ünlü
This project aims to create a shared living space for different species. The primary focus is the health and recovery of animals in need, providing services from temporary housing to the adoption process. The program also includes a yoga area and a cafe to integrate human activity into the site.
The project is strategically oriented towards the Alibey Creek, Eyüpsultan to benefit from the calming presence of water. This natural boundary acts as a visual extension of the healing spaces. By aligning the yoga studio and the animal rehabilitation zones with the waterfront, the design utilizes the acoustic and atmospheric qualities of the creek to create a serene environment for both humans and animals.

The architectural aluminum mesh facade is not only a climatic tool but also a visual filter that frames the view of the creek. This sensory continuity is further enhanced by a reflecting pool integrated into the site. The pool creates a visual bridge between the architecture and the flowing water, doubling the light effects from the mesh facade and reinforcing the feeling of tranquility and emotional recovery throughout the complex.
