Ladybird Hotel

 Ladybirds wander all summer long.

But what do they do in winter?

They settle into the nearest 'ladybird hotel' and sleep through the entire season.

So, what is a 'ladybird hotel'?

It is surrounded by flowers, so the ladybirds can feed.

It must have long, narrow chambers, so they can be protected from the cold and the wind.

It must have many small rooms, so they can stay together as a community.

This ladybird hotel, made of wooden panels, hosts its guests throughout the winter; in summer, it becomes a visual delight. All day long, the beams of light filtering through its openings drift across the flower garden.
